2015 was a good reading year for me. I feel fortunate about that as a lot of my friends said they hit long reading slumps. Here are my favorites…

*These are all people I don’t know. I thought about writing a separate list for “author friends who wrote great books” but then I’d leave people out and feel bad. So this is as objective as I can be.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Radiance by Grace Draven
Dreamer’s Pool by Juliet Marillier
Dragonsbane by Barbara Hambly (An oldie and a re-read. It was a completely different experience reading this as an adult than as a teen. Middle-aged heroine in fantasy. Love!)

Urban Fantasy

War of the Alphas by SM Reine
Colbana Files by JC Daniels
Burn for Me by Ilona Andews

Historical Romance

Stella Riley – I read all of her published books. So, yeah. Just pick one. If I had to pick a favorite, it’d be The Parfit Knight.
Fool Me Twice by Meredith Duran

Gothic Romance

I went on a Gothic Romance kick after watching Crimson Peak. I got a ton of great recommendations on this post if you’re looking for more. I’m still working my way through those. Of the ones I’ve read so far, these are my favorites:

Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Ammie, Come Home by Barbara Michaels
The Haunting of Maddy Clare Simone St. James

My Books

I published 4 books this year, beating my personal record. Yay!

I wrote about 300,000 words in 2015, most of which will be published. My goal was to finish writing the Reapers series and I’m almost there. The final book, Beat the Devil is plotted, outlined and coming along nicely. I revised the heck out of a fantasy romance I hope to share soon. And I started writing the werewolf story I always wanted to write but didn’t have time for. I learned a lot about self-publishing. I found myself out of step with market trends and decided that that’s all right. I’m just going to keep writing the fantasy and romance crossed stories that I love and hope there are people out there who love it too.

All in all, it was a pretty good year.  I can’t believe it’s almost 2016!
